Quilts for Cats and Dogs: The Cuddles Project
As a quilter, you have probably seen how your cat and dog companions love to sit on your quilt projects and completed quilts. Now we can share our quilts with cats and dogs in need by making “Cat and Dog Cuddles.”
A ‘cuddle’ is a quilted pad of a specific size which is given to a cat or dog waiting for adoption at one of a number of Sonoma County animal welfare organizations, such as Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County. The quilted pad becomes the property of the cat or dog, and goes with the animal to her/his new home when adopted, so that something familiar is there in the new environment.
This is an approved project of the MQSC, and your participation is appreciated. Complete details and instructions are available here: Cat & Dog Cuddle Instructions.pdf But basically, it is a quilt of about 25″ x 17″ which can be safely put through a washer and dryer repeatedly, and has no loose threads or chewable items such as buttons.
And remember: you get Friendship Block credit for each Cat or Dog Cuddle you turn in!
Look for the “Quilts for Cats” sign at the Business meetings (first meeting of the month) to pick up instructions, batting, and kits. And feel free to contact the coordinator with any questions.
Thanks to all of you, in advance.
